Saint-Prime, Quebec, January 16, 2012 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today underscored the Government of Canada’s financial contribution toward the modernization of Fromagerie Perron.
“The modernization work at Fromagerie Perron is progressing well,”
said Minister Lebel. “By lending its financial support to this firm, the Government of Canada has shown proof of its firm commitment to sustaining the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean economy.”
The company’s modernization project involves, among other things, acquiring specialized, high-performance equipment and reconfiguring its production lines. Fromagerie Perron purchases some 18 million litres of milk per year for the production of more than two million kilograms of cheese.
This repayable contribution of $752,400 was granted through Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program.
