Shawinigan, Quebec, January 10, 2012 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announces that the firm Nirvana Heat Pump Inc. has been granted financial assistance to conduct the research needed to develop new products.
“The Government of Canada is committed to supporting research and development in innovative enterprises. This Nirvana Heat Pump project deserves our assistance because it will help diversify the economy in the Shawinigan region,” said Minister Lebel.
Nirvana Heat Pump Inc. has been in the heating business for the past 10 years. The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of thermodynamic products in the niche of pool heat pumps in the residential and commercial sectors. Through foreign commercialization efforts, the firm has established a presence in the United States and Europe. Nirvana Heat Pump Inc. products are notable for their superior low-temperature energy efficiency and performance, low noise level and durability in extreme weather conditions.

This $75,243 repayable contribution has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Regional and Business Growth program, an initiative designed to strengthen the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of Quebec’s regions and small and medium-sized enterprises. The program’s aim is to help businesses improve their performance, become more competitive and engage in more innovation. It also supports the transfer of technology and research outputs to enterprises and the development of new markets.
