January 14, 2012 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“The smooth and orderly conduct of Taiwan’s presidential and parliamentary elections again demonstrates the strength of Taiwan’s democracy and the overwhelming support of Taiwan’s people for their democratic way of life.
“It is Canada’s hope that improvements in relations between Taiwan and China continue, and that peace and stability are maintained through constructive dialogue.”
