OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will visit Vaughan Road Academy, in Toronto, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 1 p.m.
The Governor General will meet with students and teachers leading Pocket Change Heroes, a campaign aimed at raising money to build schools in Africa through Free the Children, an international charitable and educational organization. His Excellency will then meet with the Grade 10 classes studying civics to talk about his mandate and the reasons why he selected philanthropy and volunteerism as one of his pillars. His remarks will then be followed by a question-and-answer period with the students.
