Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur, Quebec, February 7, 2012 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Anatis Bioprotection Inc. is receiving financial assistance to increase its production capacity of beneficial insects to be used in plant protection.
“By lending its financial support to innovative enterprises like Anatis Bioprotection, the Government of Canada is also encouraging the commercialization of their processes while demonstrating its commitment to furthering job creation and economic wealth,”
said Minister Lebel.
Anatis Bioprotection produces beneficial insects used to combat insect pests for the agricultural, forestry, greenhouse and horticultural sectors. The firm also develops, for the same purposes, a fungi-based microbial biopesticide. To carry out its project, the company will both acquire specialized equipment and conduct international commercialization activities.
The $123,500 in repayable financial assistance announced today has been awarded under Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional growth program.
