February 28, 2012: Effective immediately, there are revised export requirements for herring shipments (Clupea species) destined for Australia.
A Canadian Food Inspection Agency veterinary inspection is required upon arrival at a registered establishment and before processing or freezing.
Anyone who intends to ship herring to Australia for bait or aquaculture feed should contact their CFIA Area Office before harvesting and processing, to arrange for an inspection.
Any questions or comments regarding the above can be directed to the nearest CFIA Area Office.
You can find your local CFIA Area Office on the CFIA website or by consulting the blue pages of your local phone directory.
