La Pocatière, Quebec, April 10, 2012 – Acting on behalf of the Honourable enis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Mr. Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today announced that Biopterre – Bioproducts Development Centre has been granted funding to acquire equipment, tools and instruments to complete the establishment of the biomass value chain.
“The Government of Canada is giving a real boost to innovation today by funding Biopterre – Bioproducts Development Centre, which will enjoy increased response capabilities thanks to the addition of new equipment,” said Mr. Gourde.
Biopterre – Bioproducts Development Centre seeks to contribute to improving the competitiveness and innovation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the bioproducts/bioprocesses sector, among others through applied research and technology transfer research projects. In order to guide enterprises in their innovation efforts and continue to better meet growing demand, the organization is concerned with being equipped with high-performance tools.
Created in 2007, Biopterre – Bioproducts Development Centre is a college technology transfer centre established in La Pocatière. The successful completion of this project will consolidate the development of the bioresources and green energy growth niches, while helping to diversify the economic fabric of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
This $680,850 in non-repayable funding has been granted under Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program.
