Ottawa, Ontario, April 4, 2012—Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Labour Minister, congratulated Expertech Network Installation Inc. and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) for ratifying a new collective agreement.
“I am very pleased that Expertech Network Installation Inc. and the CEP have reached an agreement,” said Minister Raitt. “Strong labour–management relations benefit our country’s economic prosperity and the economic security of Canadians.”
The CEP represents 1 200 craft and services employees whose work relates to the installation of communications and related equipment. Their previous collective agreement expired onNovember 30, 2011.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program’s Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
