On May 18 2012, Mr. Dale Drown was appointed Chief Federal Negotiator for Nunavut Devolution to engage the Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated and key stakeholders and to examine options for progressing on the devolution of land and resource management in Nunavut.
Mr. Drown brings forth a background in negotiations and extensive experience in government at the provincial, territorial and federal levels. He is particularly knowledgeable of government processes in the North.
Mr. Drown was Chief of Staff to Premier Dennis Fentie in Yukon from May 2007 until June 2011 when Premier Fentie retired. Previously he served in senior political staff roles in Yukon (earlier government), Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Ottawa for a combined total of 12 years. He also is a certified association executive who has 15 and a half years of senior Association/Society management experience in British Columbia and five years of experience working in the broadcast media.
Mr. Drown is currently Executive Director of the Métis Nation British Columbia, overseeing 45 employees and a multi-million dollar annual budget.
