Saint-Charles-Borromée, Quebec, May 2, 2012 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Signature Passion has been awarded financial assistance to open a natural sourdough bread production line.
“By lending its financial support to Signature Passion, the Government of Canada is once again acknowledging the fundamental role businesses play in creating jobs and growing the economy,” said Minister Lebel.
Signature Passion specializes in the manufacture of high-end, nut- and peanut-free choux pastry products and high hydration sourdough bread. The company targets the grocery, sandwich shop, hotel and restaurant markets. Its start-up will help diversify the region’s economy and, according to its directors, should result in the creation of 27 new jobs by the year 2014.
This $300,000 in repayable funding has been awarded under Canada Economic Development’s Business Diversification program.
