Longueuil, Quebec, June 28, 2012 – Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen will be part of the Hawk one event in Edmonton on June 29. The next day, he will travel to Victoria Island (a remote part of the Canadian arctic) to take part in a unique analogue mission.

CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen will give a presentation about his journey from childhood to becoming a Canadian Forces pilot and astronaut. Major Hansen is the newest team member of the Hawk One Program.

What:
CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen will join Western University's planetary geologist, Gordon Osinski, on Victoria Island (or Kitlineq) for an analogue "moon" mission. Together they will investigate a possible new meteorite impact crater. The team will use Canadian satellite Radarsat-2 imagery to aid in the selection of a landing site for the Twin Otter aircraft and to identify potential sites of scientific interest.
