Good morning and welcome to the 2012 Farnborough Airshow.
I'm pleased to be here today to kick off Canada's participation at this year's show.
It is an honour for me to be leading such a strong Canadian delegation.
As I look around the room, I am tremendously proud of our impressive display.
We have truly outdone ourselves once again.
This trade show brings together the best and brightest in the global aerospace industry.
And Canada has earned its place in that exclusive group.
I urge you to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to promote yourselves.
And we are giving you a helping hand by making Canada a premier place to invest by
- lowering taxes;
- introducing capital cost allowances;
- harmonizing regulations;
- reducing red tape; and
- building the skilled workforce you need.
But we need to do more to ensure that Canada's aerospace industry maintains its global leadership.
That is why I launched the aerospace and space review.
I expect to see the fruits of that labour later this year.
And I certainly encourage you to make your voice heard as part of the process.
Together we are unbeatable.
It is clear that you all have the ability to compete and succeed internationally.
Your innovation and talent have helped set Canada's aerospace industry apart from those in much of the rest of the world.
This week, the Farnborough International Airshow is our platform to show just what Canadian companies can do.
I wish you all success throughout the show.
