Calgary, Alberta
Today, Deepak Obhrai, Member of Parliament for Calgary East and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, participated in the official opening of the Bow Habitat Station’s Kids Can Catch Trout Pond.
“Today’s opening reflects our Government’s commitment to enhancing recreational facilities, while creating jobs, growth, and long-term prosperity,” said MP Obhrai. “Our investment in the Bow Habitat Station will ensure that children and families will be able to enjoy recreational opportunities for years to come.”
Federal funding of over $240,000 was provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program and was directed towards the construction of new walking paths surrounding the facility’s catch-and-release trout pond.
Bow Habitat Station plays an important role in encouraging children and young people to learn about Alberta’s fish wildlife and natural environment. The new pathways will provide users of all ages with enhanced access to the fishing pond, as well as increase opportunities for visitors to experience the scenic Interpretive Wetland’s trails that showcase regional aquatic habitats, wildlife and plant species.
Western Economic Diversification Canada works to create jobs and economic growth for Western Canada. By promoting new economic opportunities, WD is securing a more diverse and prosperous future for the West while advancing western interests at the national level.
