Québec – The Canadian Coast Guard advises the public that the seasonal rescue stations located in Bainsville, Ontario; Pointe-aux-Anglais (Oka), Beaconsfield, Longueil, Sorel and Trois-Rivières, Quebec, are beginning to wrap up their annual summer activities and will be operating on the following schedule:
August 28 – 31 (11 a.m. – 10 p.m.) Bainsville, Sorel
September 1 – 3 (10 a.m. – 10:00) All rescue stations operating
September 8 – 9 (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.) Bainsville, Sorel, Pointe-aux-Anglais
September 15 – 16 (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.) Bainsville, Sorel, Pointe-aux-Anglais
September 22 – 23 (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.) Bainsville, Sorel, Pointe-aux-Anglais
These bases have been operational since May 31 – the start of the peak boating season on lakes and rivers in Quebec.
Marine emergencies can be called into the Canadian Coast Guard's Marine Rescue Sub-Centre 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at 1-800-463-4393 or 418-648-3599, or the Marine Communications and Traffic Services Centre by VHF radio (channel 16) or by dialing *16 on a cell phone.
