OTTAWA, August 9, 2012 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to peanuts not to consume the pine nut products described below. The affected products contain peanuts which are not declared on the label.
The following products, bearing a lot code from 01012012 to 07082012 (DDMMYYYY) or 0112001 to 0812220 (MMYYDDD) are affected by this alert:
These products have been distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts.
The importer/packer, Westpoint Distributors Ltd., Vancouver, BC, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
