Coe Hill, ON – On behalf of the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward–Hastings, today honoured Canada’s Veterans, Canadian Forces members and their families at the 12th Annual Warrior’s Day at Coe Hill Parade.
“The Government of Canada is committed to honouring both our Veterans and our service men and women who are still proudly defending Canadian values around the world,” said Minister Blaney. “It is through events like these that we are preserving the legacy of our Veterans and ensuring that younger generations are made aware of the important contributions of the courageous men and women who have always been there to serve and defend our country.”
The event, which was hosted by the Warrior’s Day at Coe Hill Committee in conjunction with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 581, consisted of a combined marching and mounted vehicle parade featuring Veterans and members of the Canadian Forces, as well as assorted vintage military vehicles. The event also included a brief military style dedication and wreath-laying ceremony.
MP Kramp laid a wreath and spoke about the importance of remembering the sacrifices of all of Canada’s Veterans and those who are still serving our country today.
“The Warrior’s Day ceremony is an important Canadian tradition that honours our Veterans and the brave men and women who continue to serve today,” said MP Kramp. “On behalf of the Government of Canada, I commend the Warrior’s Day at Coe Hill Committee and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 581 for all their efforts to make this day a success.”
Through the Community Engagement Partnership Fund, Warrior’s Day at Coe Hill will receive up to $13,000 in support for the Warrior’s Day at Coe Hill Parade. This annual event is an opportunity to educate youth about Hastings and Prince Edward County’s proud military history and to honour past and present members of the Canadian Forces, most importantly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Applications to the Community Engagement Partnership Fund are accepted throughout the year. Non-profit groups, educational institutions and other organizations delivering remembrance activities and events may be eligible for funding. For more information, visit veterans.gc.ca.
