Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for approximately one hour this morning at the Loews Hotel in New York City.
The two leaders spoke at length about Middle East issues, including the Middle East Peace Process and the need for action to counter the regional and global security threat posed by Iran. The Prime Minister repeated his desire to see a peaceful resolution to the situation in Iran.
The two leaders also discussed energy issues and the economy, in particular the importance of modernizing the Canada-Israel free trade agreement.
Prime Minister Netanyahu last visited Canada in March 2012 and President Peres paid a State Visit in May 2012.
