Prime Minister Harper met with Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, in New York at the United Nations. The Middle East Peace Process was the focus of the discussion. The Leaders also discussed the situation in Syria and Iran.
With regard to the Middle East Peace Process, Canada supports a two-state solution in which a Jewish state can thrive in peace and security alongside a Palestinian one.
Working with its partners and through the United Nations, its agencies and other organizations, Canada continues to support and respond to the humanitarian and development needs of the Palestinian people.
