As-salamu alaykum
Every year, more than one billion Muslims around the world observe the holy feast of sacrifice, Eid al-Adha marking the provision of God in light of the obedience and trust of the Prophet Ibrahim.
As Muslims in Canada get ready to celebrate Eid al-Adha over the next four days, we are again reminded of how important it is, in the midst of our celebration, to reserve some thought for those less fortunate and those who may be suffering, especially the millions around the world affected by conflict and disasters.
In the spirit of self-reflection, compassion and generosity, which is central to Muslims and which are values we all share as Canadians, I would like to wish all of Canada's Muslims a joyous and festive Eid al-Adha. Eid Mubarak.
