Ottawa (Ontario) ― Minister Fantino vigorously condemns the cowardly and senseless act of violence against a 14-year-old Pakistani girl for speaking out against the Taliban and in favour of girls' fundamental right to an education.
The recent deplorable action of the gunmen demonstrates the importance of Canada's continued focus on women and children in Pakistan.
Canada supports projects in the areas of education and economic growth, especially for children and women, and humanitarian assistance.
"I welcome the Government of Pakistan's denouncement of this attack and urge Pakistani authorities to seek out those responsible and immediately bring them to justice. I extend my thoughts and prayers to the young girl and to others who were injured in the shooting."
