Vancouver, British Colombia, November 13, 2012—The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Labour Minister, spoke with members of the Vancouver Board of Trade regarding a number of workplace issues, including mental health, work-life balance and gender equality.
“The Government of Canada is committed to promoting fair, safe and healthy workplaces across Canada because they are engines of our economy,” said Minister Raitt. “We are engaging with Canadian businesses and encouraging cooperation to address today’s workplace issues and to prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.”
The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, which covers industrial relations, health, safety and employment standards for federally regulated workers and employers, and the Employment Equity Act.
