Edmonton, Alberta – Today, James Rajotte, Member of Parliament for Edmonton—Leduc, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for upgrades to the Greenfield Community League Hall's outdoor skating rink under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

" said MP Rajotte. "By investing in local infrastructure, our Government continues to support communities across the country while improving the quality of life for Canadians.

The Harper Government's investment of $42,394 will enhance the programs and services provided by the Greenfield Community League Hall. The investment will modernize the outdoor skating rink through the installation of new boards around the rink platform. This will extend the lifespan of the skating rink and ensure the facility is available for recreational use by local residents for years to come.
"The Greenfield Community League is thrilled to receive funding from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund for our new and improved outdoor rink,
" said Cora Woodman, President of the Greenfield Community League. "The support from this fund enables our community to continue to make needed improvements to our aging facilities, which are enjoyed by the residents of Greenfield and many other Edmontonians.

In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
Since 2006, the Harper Government, through WD, has invested in job-creating small and medium-sized businesses, aerospace, marine and defence industries, and supported innovative entrepreneurs in pursuing emerging markets. By continuing to promote new economic opportunities, WD is helping to create jobs, economic growth, and long-term prosperity.
