Ottawa, Ontario – Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke this afternoon with François Hollande, President of the French Republic. The two leaders discussed the situation in Mali.
The Prime Minister expressed his support for France's direct engagement and reiterated Canada's pledge to work with allies to address the situation. President Hollande thanked the Prime Minister for Canada's contribution of logistical support. The two leaders agreed to stay in touch as the situation evolves.
On January 14, the Prime Minister announced that Canada would provide one Royal Canadian Air Force C-17 transport aircraft in a non-combat role to assist forces that are intervening in Mali.
