SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN (February 15, 2013) – The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, issued the following statement today:
“It is an honour to recognize the 20th anniversary of the Indspire Awards , which is being held this evening at a gala event in Saskatoon. The awards are a celebration of excellence among Indigenous professionals and youth in several different categories, ranging from health to law, political science to culture and the arts. This year’s 14 outstanding recipients join an elite list of role models for all Indigenous youth across Canada.
The Indspire Awards, formerly the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, founded in 1993, recognize, encourage and celebrate excellence among First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples across Canada and highlight excellence and achievements within the Aboriginal community.
All Canadians stand to benefit from the outstanding achievements of each individual who has shown strength and determination in reaching their goals.
The Government of Canada remains a proud partner with Indspire and supporter of the Indspire Awards.”
