The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced the appointment of Anthony Comper as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of PPP Canada Inc. Mr. Comper, former President and CEO of BMO Financial Group, has served as a member of the Board of Directors of PPP Canada for the past four years and will hold his new position for a four-year term.
“With his experience in helping to establish PPP Canada in 2009, I am very pleased with the appointment of Mr. Comper as Chairperson of the Board of Directors,” said Minister Flaherty. “Working with the Board of PPP Canada, Mr. Comper has helped the Crown corporation in developing the knowledge and expertise to provide high-quality advice to clients at all levels of government. With his direction, I expect PPP Canada will continue to play a significant role in infrastructure investment, and in helping to create jobs and growth.”
PPP Canada was established by the Government of Canada to improve the delivery of public infrastructure by achieving better value, timeliness and accountability to taxpayers through public-private partnerships (P3s). The Corporation’s outreach and awareness strategy, combined with its expert advice, has resulted in the announcement of 14 P3 projects across Canada totalling over $1.8 billion in eligible construction costs.
