OTTAWA, ONTARIO (March 27, 2013) - The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, issued the following statement:
I want to congratulate the organizers of the Feathers of Hope Youth Forum for bringing together First Nations youth from across the Nishnawbe Aski Nation to participate in a truly inspiring event.
To the Feathers of Hope Youth Leaders and participants, the various provincial government departments and the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, I'd like to personally thank you for your hard work on the Feathers of Hope Youth Forum which is an important step to creating a collective sense of hope for the future.
It is encouraging to know that so many of you have gathered together to listen and speak with decision makers about the many challenges facing and opportunities available to Aboriginal youth.
By sharing your stories, successes, life experiences and ideas, each of you will leave here knowing that you have started an important dialogue that is being heard. Also, that you have peers you can turn to for support and inspiration beyond today.
