OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver a keynote address entitled ‘Greater Aspirations’ to the Canadian Club of Toronto, on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 1 p.m., in the Ballroom of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel (100 Front Street West).
On this occasion, His Excellency will discuss education and learning in Canada, and its future value to Canadians.
“Throughout my life and career, I have seen and experienced how public education can transform lives and enrich our county,” said the Governor General. “That is why it is so important that, as Canadians, we renew our efforts to balance equal opportunity with excellence in education. We must close the educational gaps that exist between remote and urban areas, rich and poor families, new and native-born and Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. We must ensure all children are in a position to enrich their lives through learning.”
