Republic of Korea – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs and La Francophonie, and His Excellency David Chatterson, Canada’s Ambassador to Korea, co-hosted a reception for 36 Canadian Veterans participating in the Revisit Korea Program in the Republic of Korea.
As part of the Revisit Program, each of the four Commonwealth countries hosts Veterans from their respective countries for a reception. During Canada’s reception, Minister Blaney presented a certificate of excellence to Yon Jin Jeon, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans of Affairs (MPVA) for the Republic of Korea. An employee of the MPVA, Mr. Jeon has made a longstanding contribution to the Revisit Korea Program.
2013 is the Year of the Korean War Veteran. Canada proudly remembers the heroes of the Korean War and their brave fight to uphold freedom, democracy and the rule of law. For more information on Canada’s role in the Korean War, visit veterans.gc.ca.
