Ottawa – The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, today highlighted the Government of Canada's efforts to reduce red tape and support jobs and growth in an address to members of the Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association.
The Government's Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, launched in October 2012, is one of the most far-reaching red tape-cutting exercises in the world today. The Plan reduces red tape in areas ranging from tax and payroll to transport and trade, and introduces time-saving measures like single windows and electronic submissions.
The One-for-One Rule, a hallmark of the Plan, effectively caps the amount of red tape applied to business. It places strict controls on both the amount and costs of red tape arising from regulatory changes, which are to be offset from the stock of existing regulations.
