Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Team Canada on their silver medal at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women’s World Championship.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my congratulations to the women’s hockey team on their silver medal at this year’s IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Ottawa.
“Our team gave it their all on home ice, providing many outstanding and heart wrenching moments for fans watching in Ottawa and across the country.
“Their hard work earned Canada its 15th medal at the IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship since 1990.
“Once again, we applaud the women’s team on their impressive performance, which undoubtedly encourages other young Canadians to take up this great Canadian sport.”
