Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec, May 17, 2013 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, today announced that Club de golf de Dolbeau Inc. has been granted financial assistance for the expansion and renovation of the golf club’s main pavilion.
“By funding this project of Club de golf de Dolbeau Inc., the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities,” said Minister Lebel.
Located in the heart of the city, Dolbeau-Mistassini golf club was inaugurated 60 years ago, making it one of the oldest golf courses in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
The club will use the funding from the Government of Canada to expand both storeys of its main pavilion, replace the roofing, floor coverings and lighting, and upgrade the ventilation, electrical and plumbing systems.
“Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security,” Minister Lebel concluded.
This assistance, granted in the form of a $258,587 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
