OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will welcome His Excellency Sebastián Piñera, President of the Republic of Chile, and his spouse, Mrs. Cecilia Morel, to Rideau Hall on May 30 and 31, 2013, on the occasion of their State visit to Canada.
“We are truly pleased to welcome President Piñera and his wife to Rideau Hall during their stay in the National Capital Region,” said the Governor General. “Canada and Chile share a long-standing relationship based on economic ties and a joint commitment to democracy and human rights. I look forward to their visit, which will reaffirm our shared values, highlight extensive people-to-people linkages and broaden our co-operation at all levels: economic, academic and with respect to civil society.”
