The Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State (Finance), will attend the Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris from May 29-30 to encourage structural reforms aimed at creating jobs and growth.
“In Canada, our Economic Action Plan has created jobs, growth and prosperity by keeping taxes low, reducing red tape and encouraging trade and investment,” said Minister Menzies. “By maintaining sound public finances and making targeted investments in jobs and growth, our Government is setting a strong example for international efforts aimed at fostering a job-rich global recovery.”
The OECD meeting will focus on global economic challenges and the actions being taken to implement structural reforms that boost growth and competitiveness, create jobs and develop skills. Canadian leadership in these areas is demonstrated through actions taken in Economic Action Plan 2013, which includes sustainable, long-term investments in public infrastructure, introduces an innovative new program to match the skills training Canadians are receiving with the needs of employers, opens new markets for Canadian exporters, and encourages international trade and investment.
