Prime Minister Stephen Harper met this afternoon with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain on the margins of the Pacific Alliance Summit in Cali, Colombia. Both Canada and Spain are observer to the Pacific Alliance.
In the meeting, the leaders discussed the global economy, the situation the eurozone and strategies for promoting growth and open markets. In this regard, they underlined the importance of concluding an ambitious Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between Canada and the European Union as an important means to boost investment and create jobs in Canada and Europe.
The two leaders also discussed pressing international security issues, most notably the crisis in Syria.
