Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the celebration of Easter by Orthodox Christians and Eastern Catholics:
“On behalf of Laureen and our entire family, I would like to send my best wishes to Orthodox Christians and Eastern Catholics celebrating Easter in Canada and around the world.
“Easter is a time for Christians to reaffirm their faith and reflect on the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ. A time of rebirth and contemplation, Easter provides an opportunity for families and friends to celebrate blessings and to look forward with hope and optimism.
“On this day, I encourage you to think of others and how you can lend a helping hand in your community in the year ahead.
“Once again, I extend my warmest wishes for a happy and blessed Easter.”
