GATINEAU, Quebec, June 19, 2013 — The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, announced today the re-appointments of Robert Presser as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Defence Construction Canada, Shirley McClellan as Director as well as the new appointment of John Boyd as a Director.
“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of a new member and the re-appointment of two current members to the Board of Directors of Defence Construction Canada,” said Minister Ambrose. “I am confident that this Crown corporation will benefit greatly from the experience, attributes, knowledge and skills of these highly competent individuals.”
Directors are selected on the basis of their professional background, expertise and experience in the fields of infrastructure and the environment, which includes construction, civil engineering, energy, utilities and sustainable development. These appointments are effective immediately.
Mr. Presser of Montreal, Quebec, has been serving as the Chairperson of the Board of Defence Construction Canada since 2008. He has a background in the project management of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering contracts with major international engineering firms, as well as expertise in developing corporate governance for large Canadian corporations.
Ms. McClellan of Spruce Grove, Alberta, has also served as Director of Defence Construction Canada since 2008. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for 20 years, and has served as the Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the University of Alberta.
Mr. Boyd, of Mississauga, Ontario, has over 30 years of consulting engineering experience, is the professor of a graduate course in engineering at the University of Toronto, and has served as chair of a task force of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers.
Defence Construction Canada reports to Parliament through the Minister of Public Works and Government Services. The corporation provides timely, effective and efficient project delivery and full life-cycle support for infrastructure and environmental assets required for the defence of Canada.
