Moncton, New Brunswick -Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Gulf Region, announced today two New Brunswick residents have been fined by Judge Jolène Richard for violations under the Fisheries Act. Their fines total $3,500.
Roger Landry of Cap-Pelé pleaded guilty to being in possession of undersized scallops. He was fined $1,000 and his catch, valued at $1,563.75, was confiscated.
Allain Boudreau of Grand-Barachois also pleaded guilty to being in possession of undersized scallops. He was fined $2,500 and his catch, valued at $1,001.25, was confiscated.
Both commercial scallop harvesters were accused of having exceeded the average scallop meat count permitted in the Atlantic Fishery Regulations.
