Montréal, Quebec, July 17, 2013 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Fireflex Systems Inc. has been granted financial assistance to develop a test-bed for its integrated fire protection systems.
“By lending financial support to Fireflex Systems, our Government is giving a real boost to innovation and, consequently, to economic growth,” said Minister Lebel.
Established in Boisbriand in the Laurentians, since 1991, Fireflex Systems Inc. has been designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art innovative integrated fire protection systems, including not only automatic sprinklers but also clean agent and compressed air foam systems. The company’s systems are used in server rooms, aircraft hangars, bank vaults, electrical installations and oil installations.
The financial assistance from Canada Economic Development will enable Fireflex Systems Inc. to continue to expand and to upgrade its research and development facilities. This project is the result of the development, jointly coordinated with the National Research Council Canada (NRCC), of a comprehensive fire protection system called “ICAF”. The NRCC has granted the firm the exclusive right to manufacture and market this product. The improvements also include an expansion of the plant, the installation of a foam recovery unit and handling and testing equipment.
This assistance, granted in the form of a $750,000 repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
