OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will attend a memorial honouring the numerous victims who lost their lives in the tragedy that struck Lac-Mégantic on July 6, 2013. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Ste-Agnès church in Lac-Mégantic.
“Sharon and I would like to offer our support to this devastated community as it tries to cope with this unimaginable tragedy, which has left not only Canadians, but also people around the world in shock. We would like to pay tribute to the victims who left us all too soon and bring some measure of comfort to the families affected directly or indirectly by this tragedy. On behalf of the people of Canada, we wish to stand beside the people of Lac-Mégantic to assure them of our unwavering support.”
