OTTAWA – July 5, 2013 – RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson sent a letter to the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP (CPC) this morning requesting an investigation into RCMP actions in High River, AB.
The letter to Interim CPC Chair Ian McPhail, asks that he consider a “Chair initiated complaint” which would allow the CPC to investigate RCMP actions in High River, “to assess if they were well founded, reasonably executed and in accordance with our policies.”
Commissioner Paulson noted he is extremely proud of the RCMP’s community response to the terrible flooding in High River, but expressed concern over sharp criticism in respect of some of the Force’s actions. Commissioner Paulson committed to providing CPC investigators with any and all information they might require to undertake their investigation.
