Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement to mark the first day of Ramadan.
”At the start of Ramadan, I would like to extend warm wishes to Muslims in Canada and around the world.
“For those marking the holy month of Ramadan, it is a time of family and celebration as well as a time of fasting, prayer and reflection. It is also a time of charity and almsgiving, to remember and reach out to those less fortunate.
“At the beginning of this holy celebration, I wish all Muslims peace and happiness.
“Ramadan Mubarak!”
