Ottawa, July 3, 2013 - The public warning issued on June 21, 2013 has been updated to include additional information on allergen, product and expiry dates.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and New Century Food Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk, wheat and/or tree nuts not to consume the New Century Food brand cakes described below. The affected products contain milk and wheat and may contain tree nuts which are not declared on the label.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk, wheat and/or tree nuts.
The manufacturer, New Century Food Inc., Scarborough, ON, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
