GATINEAU, Quebec, August 2, 2013 – Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists and pedestrians that effective August 5, 2013, the Des Allumettes Bridge in Pembroke, Ontario, will be permanently reduced from two lanes to one single centre lane.
The bridge, which is scheduled to be replaced by a new bridge in 2016, will be controlled by traffic lights installed at both entrances, with a maximum delay time of approximately four minutes. The lane reduction is required to ensure that the current structure can safely remain in operation until construction of the new bridge is completed.
