Saint-Charles-de-Bourget, Quebec, August 16, 2013 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, reiterates that solidarity cooperative Auberge Val Menaud received funding from the Government of Canada to develop accommodation and food services in Saint-Charles-de-Bourget. The establishment inaugurated its new facility today.
“The Government of Canada is pleased to have lent its support to the Auberge Val Menaud because it will help enhance the tourist accommodation offering in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and diversify the local economy, “
said Minister Lebel.
Auberge Val Menaud is the fruit of concerted efforts by the citizens of Saint-Charles-de-Bourget. The funding granted was used to set up and furnish the hotel’s four rooms and restaurant. The municipality of Saint-Charles-de–Bourget now has a hotel that can accommodate the growing number of visitors who choose to vacation in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
This assistance, granted in the form of a $117,578 non-repayable contribution, was awarded through the Canada Economic Development’s Temporary Initiative for the Strengthening of Quebec’s Forest Economies.
