Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke this morning with David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The two leaders discussed the situation in Syria and the upcoming G20 Summit.
Both Prime Ministers expressed their deep concern about developments in Syria, and in particular the disturbing events of the past week. Both emphasized that a clear picture of the facts must be obtained. The Prime Ministers agreed to stay in close contact on this matter.
On the G20, Prime Minister Harper noted the importance of medium-term fiscal strategies that provide the foundation for long-term growth and of renewed commitment to anti-protectionism.
Finally, the Prime Ministers agreed on the importance of concluding the negotiations of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
