Ronald G. Penney retired in 2010 as City Manager of the City of St. John's where he served for 16 years as the administrative head of the City. He was also City Solicitor until 2010.
Mr. Penney holds a B.A. from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an L.L.B. from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto.
Prior to his employment with the City he held a number of senior positions with the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, including Deputy Minister of Justice, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Services and Deputy Minister of Health. He also served as Executive Director of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mr. Penney serves as Volunteer Chair of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Advisory Council and the Railway Coastal Museum Foundation. He is Adjunct Professor with the Department of Political Science, Memorial University. He was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2011.
