Q1. How was the new Chair of the Enrolment Committee selected?
A1. Canada and the Federation of Newfoundland Indians considered a number of individuals for the position. Both parties placed importance on appointing an independent Chair with considerable legal training who is well respected in Newfoundland and its legal community.
Q2. How does the Enrolment Committee function? Are there any changes to the role following the 2013 Supplemental Agreement?
A2. Section 4.2 of the 2008 Agreement for the Recognition of the Qalipu Mi'kmaq Band (251 Kb, 111 pp.), which outlines the Enrolment Committee's function and composition, remains in place and unchanged.
Q3. When will the Enrolment Committee make its final decision on the applications?
A3. All applicants will be informed at the end of the process at the end of April 2016.
