Ottawa, September 19, 2013 — The Honourable Jason Kenney issued the following statement to recognize the Moon Festival:
“This evening, Canadians in communities across the country will celebrate the Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival.
“Tonight’s celebration is one of the most important traditions for those of Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean heritage. It is celebrated every autumn to mark the summer’s bountiful harvest.
“As part of the festivities, family and friends will gather under tonight’s full moon to share legendary stories, light lanterns, and eat delicious traditional delicacies such as mooncakes and songpyeon.
“As the Minister for Multiculturalism, I wish all those celebrating a joyous Moon Festival.”
