The Canada Council for the Arts wishes to express its strong support for the Government of Canada's efforts toward the release of filmmaker John Greyson and physician Tarek Loubani who have been detained, without formal charges, in an Egyptian prison since August 16.
The Canada Council has a long history of support for John Greyson's work as an independent filmmaker and video artist. Over a career that spans more than 30 years Mr. Greyson has received many national and international honours for his work, including the 2007 Bell Canada Award in Video Art.
