Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Our Government is committed to helping the Canadian air transport industry increase its access to international markets, which in turn benefits domestic businesses, shippers and travellers.
To this end, on October 6, 2013, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced amendments to the air transport agreement between Canada and Malaysia, which reflects growing bilateral relations.
The amended agreement provides airlines with greater flexibility with respect to:
- code-sharing, including with airline partners of third countries; and
- adjusting prices according to market conditions.
The amendments will be applied on an administrative basis immediately, pending the formal ratification process.
Canada’s Blue Sky policy encourages long-term, sustainable competition and the development of new or expanded international air services. Under this policy, the Government of Canada has concluded new or expanded air transport agreements covering 77 countries.
